I have been involved in the sport for 10 years, introduced to the
sport like many at University, and have continued rowing and sculling at
York City Rowing Club. My interest has now switched to coaching, and I
have become a silver coach, and coached two eight's into the Thames cup
at Henley. |

Secretary -
Barbara Edwards

I have
been involved in rowing for over 30 years and although back problems
have prevented me from rowing I have been an active umpire for many
years. I met my husband at Bradford ARC and together we have
been involved in running the Bradford regattas and the Yorkshire Head.
I am Secretary of Bradford ARC as well as Secretary for the Region. |
 |
Water Safety Adviser - Allan Clarke

I started
rowing at York City Rowing Club at the age of 19 and rowed in 4's and
8's until I married Christine who also rowed for York City. Both our
sons Stuart and Daniel took up rowing, so I decided to take up
umpiring and give something back to the sport. |

Student Commissioner
- Alastair Brown

|
 |
Coaching Commission
- Anne Homa

I began rowing at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford over 20
years ago and have continued ever since. I met my husband, Mick, at Eton
Excelsior and we moved north and joined York City in 1997. I am an
active veteran competitor (as active as I can be with 2 small boys), my
highlight was winning Vet 1X at the World Masters in 2000 and I have won
several National Veterans medals. |
| |
Junior Commission -
Dan Clarke

I started my rowing at York
City in 1994, I have competed all over the UK and the world, racing in
Cork, Dublin, Boston (usa) as well as Australian Henley. I am still an
active oarsman, competing in local and national standard events. I am
also one of a group of people who coach the junior squad at York City,
as well as our learn-to-row courses. I am a qualified launch driver,
fitness instructor, and passed my UKCC level 2 rowing in early 2006. |

Competitions Commission - Vacant

|
 |
Umpires Commission
- Charles Robertshaw

I started rowing in 1965 at school.
Apart from a short break in 1972 I have participated most years. I
became an umpire in 1980 and upgraded to multi-lane a few years later.
Most of my rowing is done at the Heads and most umpiring is in the
region with stints at Peterborough and Holme Pierrepoint where I also
drive the launches. I am still trying to get enough people to become
umpires in the Region. It can be good fun! |
 |
Divisional Representative
- Terry Edwards

I started
rowing at school, and decided that rowing was the sport for me.
I am still a committed Veteran oarsman, and am currently coaching
Juniors and Beginners at Bradford ARC. I am also a past Chairman
of the Region, a position I relinquished on my election as Divisional
Representative for the Region. |
 |
Treasurer - Tony
Sherlock

It was at Oriel College, Oxford, where in a 4- I
won one round at Henley that my love of rowing was born. During my
time at York, I have rowed with the YCRC veteran squad and held
various committee posts (abandoned in favour of married life and no
politics!). I currently coach the York University Women’s squad. |
 |
Yorkshire Head Secretary
- Stuart Ward

I have been actively rowing and
racing for the past 45 years, having spent 41 of those as a member of
Bradford ARC. I began as Secretary of the Yorkshire Head in
1985 and with the help of the many volunteers in the Region it has
remained a successful and popular event. Presently my activities
as a rower, umpire, Project Oarsome coach, member of the ARA Executive
and National Water Safety Adviser allow me to see many aspects of the
sport, which provides me with a wealth of enjoyment and satisfaction. |
 |
Veteran Commissioner
- Bob Cannell

I'm the classic veteran novice. Getting too old for 'jumping around'
type sports, sculling and rowing let me continue exercising at whatever
level I am capable of. Four years after first picking up a blade, I'm
still enjoying learning and enjoying the whole body physical fitness
rowing has given me. Veteran racing is fun and I'm now coaching
beginners. There are a lot of people like me joining the sport. And a
lot more who could be joining. As Veteran Commissioner I particularly
want to coordinate our Clubs' efforts to attract, keep and develop older
beginners. |

ARA Coaching Development Officer
- Rory Semple

Tel.

I started rowing at my local
club, City of Derry Rowing Club in Northern Ireland, just before leaving
school. I rowed all the way through college and was Club Chairman at the
University of Kent. I joined the ARA in 2002 as Coaching & Development
Officer for the South East Region. I have a bronze level coaching award
and am an ARA tutor and assessor. As CDO for the region I hope to work
with all of the region’s clubs at what is a very exciting time for
rowing in this country. |
